The Island
Discover Anguilla from the Water
Anguilla is the quietest of the three islands you can reach by private boat from Saint-Martin – and the most spectacular for beaches. Just 91 km², this British overseas territory holds 33 white-sand beaches lapped by some of the clearest turquoise waters in the Caribbean. Shoal Bay East was voted the #1 beach in the world by Travel+Leisure – and it’s only 20 minutes from our Saint-Martin marinas. Beauty Charters has been running this crossing since 2005, before and after Hurricane Irma. We depart from any of our marinas in Saint-Martin (Anse Marcel, Marina Fort Louis, Marina Royale, Simpson Bay, Cole Bay, Cupecoy Bay), reaching Sandy Ground in 20 minutes for customs clearance – which we handle for you – then on to Shoal Bay East, Meads Bay or the wild Prickly Pear Cays for snorkeling. Anguilla has no international airport, no chain hotels, no traffic jams. The pace is slow, the beaches are nearly empty, the rum is local. Every Beauty Charters trip includes a professional captain who knows where the lobster boats anchor and which beach bar serves the best grilled crayfish.

Local Character
What Makes Anguilla Different
Anguilla is the Caribbean as it used to be. Where Saint-Barth concentrates glamour into 25 km² and Saint-Martin packs cultural variety into 87, Anguilla simply offers space and silence. The numbers explain why : 91 km² of low coral limestone, 33 named beaches, no international airport, no cruise port, no chain resorts, and a population of 15,000 spread across the entire island. The beaches are the unique thing. Anguilla’s underwater geology – a sloping coral limestone shelf – filters water with extraordinary clarity. Visibility 30+ meters is routine, sand is among the finest in the Caribbean (silica-rich, near-white), and most beaches face protected leeward bays. Shoal Bay East was voted #1 in the world by Travel+Leisure not by accident – it sits on the perfect convergence of geology, exposure and water clarity. The rhythm is the second unique thing. Anguilla never industrialised tourism. There are no all-inclusive resorts, no traffic, no sales pressure. Beach bars are family-run (Uncle Ernie’s at Shoal Bay since 1985), restaurants are seasonal (Blanchards opens what they have that morning), and time genuinely slows down. For visitors used to the pace of Caribbean tourism elsewhere, Anguilla feels like discovering a secret that everyone forgot to commercialise. A private boat charter is the only way to experience this in a single day. The ferry is slow, the public schedule rigid – but a 20-minute crossing in your own boat means you arrive when the beaches are still empty, and leave when the sun is just getting low.
